Liberation-Centered, Trans-Affirming MH Provider Consultation Group

Your trans-affirming work is so important, and it’s also so fucking hard some days. No matter what you do, it may never feel like you’re doing enough.

You know that the goal is to support radical healing, but how are you supposed to help your clients when some days you can barely keep your head above water?

You can't keep up with all of the anti-trans legislation, and to be honest,  you often tune it out to keep yourself from burning out.

You’re holding so much heaviness in your clinical work, and sometimes it feels like there's nowhere to go with it.

It's not that you don't believe in your clinical ability to support your clients, but there's something deeper missing.

You have been feeling isolated.

You have been pulling away from colleagues, friends, and family who don't have a pulse on how hard things are right now. You have queer and trans friends and colleagues, but you’re never sure how much to talk about things, because you don't want to bring anyone down. You also can't access most trans-centered support spaces with the same level of vulnerability, because the trans community is small and your clients are in those spaces as well.

You’re seeking a space with other trans-competent providers who ‘get it’.

When you do find connection and learning opportunities with other trans-friendly providers, it often results in you offering free labor to ‘good-intentioned’ providers. Even when you did find a space with higher standards for trans-competence, you were disappointed and confused to discover a culture of unhealthy, shaming dynamics, which hurts the very providers it was aiming to protect in the first place.

You feel fairly solid in your clinical skills overall in trans-affirming work, though you really want to continue learning and growing in community with other providers doing similar work who value the lived experiences of the trans & nonbinary community.

You want an intentional, intimate, and shame-free space that offers support for trans-competent providers who are already engaged in racial, gender, and body liberation work.

-Identifying, preventing, & moving through burnout vs. exploitation vs. compassion fatigue vs. moral injury

**Intermediate-to-Advanced Level: Providers are encouraged to have trans 101 experience and competence, as well as an understanding of power and oppression as it intersects with their clients and their own privileged and targeted identities related to race, gender, and body.
